Revolutionary Structure Design Aids in Data Center Cooling

DAMAC, the leading U.S. manufacturer of data center infrastructure equipment, recently unveiled its DAMAC Structure during the Data Center World Global conference in Las Vegas.

The structure incorporates an Aisle Containment System, which “encapsulates the aisle way and caps the end of the Structure with the door style of your choice [to] enable human access to the equipment while maintaining an enclosed environment,” according to DAMAC.

DAMAC explains that for the Cold Aisle Configuration, “the center aisle will be capped at the top with panels installed horizontally to keep the cold air within the aisle-way.” And for the Hot Aisle Configuration, “the center aisle will be open at the top with vertical panels installed to direct the hot air out of the aisle.”

“Since the structure is a self-contained system overall cooling of the datacenter is unnecessary,” said the company, “Cooling is limited to the structure itself to increase equipment efficiency, isolate cooling and heating interferences by section, and reduce overall operating costs.”

DAMAC wants to cut out overbuilt power and cooling systems. An organization can improve their facility’s power usage effectiveness (PUE) with a structure that has a defined footprint to accurately calculate how much cooling is needed for the equipment installed within the structure. This is what the DAMAC Structure provides.
